How to Order a 3D Print Online — Step by Step
Ordering a 3D print is easier than it sounds — you need neither your own printer nor 3D modelling experience. Here is the whole process, from idea to finished part at your door.
1. Find or make a 3D model
To be printed, a part has to exist as a 3D file. You have three options:
- A ready-made model. Millions of free models live on MakerWorld, Printables and Thingiverse — spare parts, organisers, stands, toys, gifts. Download the file as STL or 3MF.
- Your own model. If you use a CAD tool (Fusion, SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Onshape, Tinkercad), export the model as STL or 3MF.
- No model. Send us a sketch, photos with dimensions or the broken part — we will model it.
2. Upload the file and see the price
Click “Upload your STL/3MF model” on the site and pick the file (up to 90 MB). The model appears in 3D so you can check it is the right one, and seconds later you see the exact price. It comes from a real slicer, so it is final, not an estimate.
3. Choose material, strength and quantity
- Material — for most functional parts PETG is the safe choice. See the comparison in 3D printing materials.
- Strength — “Optimal” is enough for almost everything. Go higher only for heavily loaded parts.
- Orientation — optionally rotate the model. The right orientation makes a part stronger and often cheaper.
- Quantity — larger quantities lower the price per piece.
4. Send a request
Add the part to your request (you can upload several files), fill in the delivery details and send it. A request doesn’t commit you to anything — we contact you within 1 working day to confirm price, lead time and delivery. Delivery to your address is included in the price.
5. Printing and delivery
Once you confirm, the part goes into production within 24 hours. Every part is checked before it is packed and sent by courier.
Common mistakes
- Wrong scale. Some models are in inches rather than millimetres. If the size in the preview looks odd, check the units when exporting.
- Very thin walls. Walls under about 1 mm may not print well.
